On most websites about Sri Lanka, the train ride from Kandy to Ella is considered the most beautiful in the world.

Personally, I was quite disappointed. During most of the journey, the primary forest was completely cut down, mostly all the way to the top of the hills.

Now planted with huge tea plantations, and some pine and eucalyptus forests.

After all tea is one of the main sources of income for the country, so I guess it’s justifiable.

There are some pretty passages, perfect photo objects, like a few short stretches through a really beautiful National Park and crossing the top of a mountain

But, the most beautiful Train Journey in the World?

There we can see how opinions differ, for me it’s just an averagely nice train ride

Although I still recommend the trip, its definitely worth it but don’t expect too much.
